New life to the scraps
Every shoe is a unique pieceSfreedo comes from an idea that combines great experience in shoe manufacturing with the new culture of conscious consumption, creating a synthesis with a distinctive and original style. Starting from the common issue of the disposal of leather and quality fabrics scraps, the so-called “sfridi”, we have reached the point of creating unique and unrepeatable shoes, as each shoe is individually made with different textures and original composition. Not only the shoe upper but also the sole and insole are the result of the recycling of quality materials.
Style and Sustainability
This means that there is no mass production, but an accurate handcrafted assemblage, which makes each shoe unique and at the same time iconic.
In environmental terms, all this means decreasing the volume of waste, reducing pollution caused by disposal systems and reducing the consumption of raw materials.
Upcycling
Unlike common recycled products, which have lesser value than the original products and require a massive energy to be properly processed, Sfreedo reuse waste materials aiming to create new items with higher values, avoiding at most any energy waste. This is the reason why when we talk about Sfreedo we prefer the term “Upcycling” rather than recycling. The idea comes to life in small steps
The creation of the shoe upper is a constant work-in-progress. Depending on the materials selected each time among the scraps that arrive, these being leather, canvas, cotton or denim, the scraps are cut into small squares then combined and stitched together.
The newly created panel is in turn cut following the shoe upper design and mounted on the shoe. A new pair of unique and original shoes is created, different in colour, texture, and finishing touches. As only Sfreedo’s can be.
Don't waste time
The environment is asking us: there is no more time to waste. Now is the time to consciously think about consumption, to assess our environmental impact at any time, to make the right choices. Recovery and recycling are among these choices. It is also time to take a stand and declare it. The people who develop the Sfreedo do it with the production techniques, the ones who wear them do it by carrying the message. And each one of them will do so by demonstrating with style their uniqueness and originality. As this is the world of Sfreedo.
